Medical Billing Specialist (part-time) Whole Journey Services Charlotte, NC 28273 • Hybrid work
Overview:
Whole Journey Services offers integrative, holistic counseling and wellness services in Virginia and North Carolina, both online and in-person. We are looking for a part-time team member to support with billing (approximately 25-30 hours per week).
Candidate experience:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in a part-time capacity at our behavioral health therapy practice. In this role, you will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate and timely submissions of claims, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Summary of Responsibilities:
Claims Management:
Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Patient Invoicing:
Process patient invoices and manage billing inquiries; provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding their accounts.
Payment Posting:
Accurately post and reconcile payments received from insurance carriers and patients.
Account Reconciliation:
Regularly review accounts receivable and identify discrepancies; work to resolve any issues promptly.
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to sessions, ensuring all necessary information is accurate and completed.
Billing Compliance:
Stay current with changes in healthcare billing regulations and coding practices, particularly related to behavioral health services.
Collaboration:
Work closely with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation and compliance for billing processes.
Reporting:
Assist in generating reports related to billing, collections, and account status for practice management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred. Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a behavioral health or therapy setting. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes, as well as insurance policies associated with mental health services. Strong attention to detail and high organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting while meeting deadlines. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
