Full Job Description Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Anesthesia RCM Specialist to lead and execute key functions in accounts receivable (A/R) management, payment integrity, payor enrollment, and clearinghouse operations. This role supports team leadership while maintaining hands-on responsibility for critical RCM workflows. The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with anesthesia billing and reimbursement processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage operational tasks while serving as a go-to resource.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable & Payment Integrity Oversee daily workflows related to insurance aging, denials, underpayments, and rejections. Perform advanced A/R follow-up activities, including escalated appeals and payer correspondence. Conduct root cause analyses of recurring denial trends and collaborate with billing/coding teams for resolution. Monitor and audit payments to ensure accurate reimbursement per contract; initiate reprocessing or refund workflows as necessary with other team members. Support development and implementation of payment reconciliation procedures and reporting with senior leadership. Payor Enrollment & Credentialing Support Coordinate initial and ongoing enrollment for anesthesiologists and CRNAs with commercial and government payers. Track and maintain provider CAQH profiles, NPI updates, EFT/ERA registration, and revalidations. Liaise with credentialing departments, payers, and internal stakeholders to resolve enrollment delays. Clearinghouse & Payment Platform Oversight Manage clearinghouse configurations (ERA routing, payer connections, etc.) as needed with senior leadership and billing software vendor. Troubleshoot electronic claims, ERA delivery issues, and rejections at the clearinghouse level. Collaborate with technical vendors to optimize payment workflows and resolve systemic issues. Leadership & Cross-Functional Support Serve as an internal subject matter expert on anesthesia-specific RCM processes. Act as liaison between billing staff, coding team, and senior leadership to ensure alignment of goals and resolution of operational barriers. Contribute to monthly RCM reporting and analytics related to collections performance, denial rates, and enrollment metrics.

Qualifications:

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years in medical billing or RCM, with at least 1 year focused on anesthesia services; prior experience in a team lead role strongly preferred.

Skills:

Proficient with billing software, clearinghouses, and payer portals. Strong understanding of payer policies, ANSI 835/837 formats, and medical billing compliance. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage priorities independently and support junior staff. Working knowledge of CAQH, PECOS, and Medicare/Medicaid enrollment requirements.

Preferred Certifications:

Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or equivalent preferred but not required.
