Insurance and Billing Representative Position Summary:

Seeking a detail-oriented Insurance and Billing Representative to manage insurance claims, patient billing inquiries, AR management, insurance verification, and clinician coding review credentialing processes. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Insurance Ensures daily insurance verification for the practice. Ensures all accounts are up to date for the following business day and all billing alerts on accounts are current. Responsible for staying up-to-date on changes to insurance regulations and policies to ensure compliance. Any noted concerns should be reported to the supervisor. Billing and Insurance Payments Implement quality assurance measures where needed to maintain accuracy in billing, coding, and documentation. Provides excellent customer service to clients, including prompt and courteous responses to inquiries, clear communication about billing matters, and resolution of any issues or concerns. Post all insurance patient payments received by mail and forward record to the current billing company for posting. Processes any client payments that come in via phone. First line of client contact for any billing or insurance inquiries in office and via phone. Responsible for overseeing all prior authorizations and collaborating with clinicians to complete them when needed. Oversees client refunds and client collections when necessary. Prepares the practice for end of the year/beginning of the year billing procedures. Provides Good Faith Estimates for services as necessary. Reconciles bank statements from practice owner with posted payments in EHR. Credentialing Responsible for all clinician credentialing processes and keeps tabs on outstanding applications. Investigates and attempts to resolve issues involving credentialing that arise. Responsible for updating credentialing spreadsheets and ensuring all clinicians are in network with eligible insurance panels. Training and Additional Responsibilities Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations (such as HIPAA), conduct regular internal audits to identify any insurance, billing or credentialing compliance issues, and implement corrective actions as needed. Train any onboarding staff in relevant billing department procedures. Additional responsibilities as noted in job description

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience. Prior experience in medical billing and insurance verification. Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and billing software. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
