Job Description
Description We are on the lookout for a proficient Fully Remote Medical Reimbursement Specialist. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity. As a Medical Reimbursement Specialist, you will manage revenue cycle duties, respond to billing queries, handle medical and pharmacy billing, and verify documentation prior to billing. You will also manage cash posting, balance research, denial claims and adjustments, and follow up on reimbursements and appeals.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and accurately managing all aspects of the revenue cycle.
- Addressing billing inquiries from various sources such as patients, insurance companies, and internal departments, and resolving both general and complex issues.
- Handling all aspects of Medical and Pharmacy billing within our organization.
- Ensuring that services and products are authorized appropriately and that all required documentation is available before billing.
- Managing cash posting and verifying the correctness of received payments.
- Conducting research on outstanding balances and implementing necessary collection actions to resolve them promptly.
- Investigating claim denials and performing accurate and timely adjustments.
- Filing insurance claims and appeals which requires a comprehensive understanding and application of coding guidelines.
- Efficiently following up on reimbursements and appeals.
- Negotiating payment plans with patients in line with company collection policies.
- Liaising with third-party collection agencies.
- Utilizing the company’s software applications efficiently, including maintaining accurate and detailed charts and notes.
- Adhering to state and federal regulations and company policies regarding compliance, integrity, patient privacy, and ethical billing and collection practices. - Must have specialty infusion/home infusion therapy experience
- Minimum of 5 years in infusion medical billing or related experience required
- Strong knowledge of government insurance plans, managed care plans, HMO/PPO’s, and patient billing and the specific requirements for each
- Accurate and detail-oriented including ability to work under pressure
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
- Communicates clearly and effectively in both oral and written communications
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Hands-on experience with a computerized billing system
- Experience with CPR+ Infusion Pharmacy software or CareTend for billing highly preferred
- Ability to self-motivate and effectively solve complex problems through internal/external interaction.
- Knowledgeable in Medicare and Medicaid guidelines for home infusion therapy
- Knowledge of infusion billing for commercial and Medicaid payers
- Working knowledge of infusion CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes
- Electronic claim filing
