JOB RESPONSIBILITIES BILLING/COLLECTION ASSISTANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTING AND INVESTIGATING PAYMENTS FOR MAJOR INSURANCE COMPANIES USING AGENCY’S ALGORYTHMS, CHECKING PAYMENTS ON WEEKLY BASIS, MAKING SURE THE PAYMENTS WERE PROCESSED CORRECTLY, UPDATING INFORMATION ABOUT PATIENTS’ HOSPITALIZATIONS AND VACATIONS, SENDING INVOICING TO INSURANCE COMPANIES EVERY WEEK
Responsibilities:
- Checks compliance of visits done (on master schedule), after all notes are matched to charges, immediatelybrings any scheduling problems to the supervisor’s attention.
- Manages credit and collection activities on past due accounts participates in any and all collection activities of problem accounts.
- Prepares financial statements and reports.
- Assists with audits.
- Assists in coordinating services provided to patients.
- Assists in relaying messages to field staff, office staff and community liaisons, gives and takes reports from the office manager
- Acts as Receptionist for the office, answering inquiries of general nature form applicants, visitors, and professional staff, assisting them in a friendly and cooperative manner.
- Assists in miscellaneous bookkeeping functions.
- Bills outside agencies and third party payers.
- Supervises and coordinates credit and collection to include completion of all necessary paperwork and data entry.
- Manages credit and collection activities on past due accounts participates in any and all collection activities of problem accounts.
- Supervises the completion of all required insurance forms in a timely manner.
- Takes care of any necessary payroll and billing adjustments.
- Assures the correct data entry of patient information and payroll and billing information into the system.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Bilingual Spanish/English 2. High school diploma or equivalent 3. A college degree is preferable 4. Should be a skilled organizer able to manage office files, logbooks and staff schedules 5. Attention to details 6. Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills 7.
