Job Description
Medical Collections Representative United Management Organization, LLC. 445 Broadhollow Road, Melville, NY 11747 Busy Intraoperative Neurophysiological monitoring practice seeks a Medical Payment Collector.
Responsibilities:
Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtain missing information. Identify insurance company or proper party (patient) to be billed; identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances. Confirm billing tasks are completed on a computerized health information technology (HIT) system using USMON. Utilize a combination of electronic health record (HER) and paper records to perform billing duties; maintain an accurate, legally compliant medical record. Review insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract rates. Review denials or partially paid claims and work with the parties involved to resolve any discrepancies (reprocess/appeal denied claims). Manage assigned accounts; ensuring outstanding/pending claims are paid in a timely manner and contacting the appropriate parties to collect payments. Communicate in a cordial manner with health care providers, patients, insurance claim representatives and other parties to clarify billing issues and facilitate timely payment. Consult supervisor, team members and appropriate resources to solve billing and collection questions and issues. Maintain work operations and quality by following standards, policies, and procedures; escalate compliance issues to supervisor. Perform a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to: answering phones, faxing and filing confidential documents; and basic internet and email utilization. Provide excellent and professional customer service to internal and external customers. Function as a contributing team member while meeting deadlines and productivity standards.
Requirements:
Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail Good computer skills and experience with MS office products Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task and follow up on accounts in a timely manner Out-Of-Network insurance claim collection experience (preferred) Neurosurgical, Orthopedic Spine Surgery, and Neurological practice collection experience (preferred)
