Job Summary:
The Revenue Specialist is responsible for coordinating and securing initial and renewal authorizations for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) from insurance providers. This role ensures compliance with all payer requirements and to stay on top of changes in the insurance industry regarding authorizations. This specialist serves as a liaison between healthcare providers, patients, insurance companies in order to provide uninterrupted billing. This team member will be required to possess a vast knowledge of DME qualifications for equipment, preferred Brightree experience, and experience with inital and renewal authorizations. Fluent with being able to identify problems with CMN’s and PA’s. Ability to contact doctor’s offices and patient’s requesting information needed by phone, faxes, and letters. Must have the ability to manage run and manage reports to obtain updated authorizations before they expire. Request documentation as needed. The ideal candidate will be self-starter with strong communication skills, and organizational skills, a positive attitude and one who possesses a passion for customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit prior authorization and renewal requests to insurance companies for durable medical equipment services. Review medical documentation to ensure completeness and compliance with insurance requirements. Communicate with insurance providers to follow up on the status of pending authorizations and resolve any issues or denials. Work closely with physicians and patients to gather necessary clinical information. Track and manage expiring authorizations; proactively initiate renewal requests to avoid interruptions in billing. Document all communication and authorization activities accurately in our Brightree system. Maintain knowledge of payer-specific authorization policies, guidelines and documentation requirements.
