Job Description

  • Job Description:
  • This position is responsible for billing, follow-up, and resolving issues that delay or prevent payment of the patients account within Intermountains policies and procedures, and assist teammates with any escalations.
  • Essential Functions
  • Identify appropriate payment details and save back-up as appropriate. Balance payments to deposits in systems and applications. Post all payments to patient accounts, using both electronic and manual posting systems
  • Research, validate and make adjustments to payment postings. Follow up in accordance to procedures and policies with an overall goal of account resolution
  • Post correspondence, zero payments, denials and any other additional items received from insurance to patient accounts
  • Monitor and audit quality and accuracy of payment postings for the team
  • Train and mentor new associates to the department. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to answer questions within the department
  • Review and provide the team with feedback with Quality Assurance auditing
  • Monitor and adjust team’s work assignments to ensure daily goals are met. Resolve escalated payment processing situations and scenarios
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external partners as well as payers utilizing face-to-face interaction, incoming and outbound calls, and/or electronic messaging
  • Collaborate with other leads to solve interdepartmental issues, work together to do quality monitoring between teams

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Medical Billing payment posting, required Physical Requirements
  • Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing
  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands
  • See and read computer monitors and documents Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment
  • May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching
