Job Description
Description We are looking for a motivated Collections Specialist to join our team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In this Contract-to-Permanent role, you will manage accounts receivable collections while supporting billing and sales tax processes as needed. This position requires a proactive individual who is comfortable navigating payment portals and handling manual processes with precision.
Responsibilities:
- Manage business-to-business collections for accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments from clients.
- Navigate and utilize payment portals to access and process invoices.
- Assist with billing operations, ensuring accurate identification of taxable and non-taxable items.
- Provide support in sales tax filings and compliance, including automating processes wherever possible.
- Collaborate with internal teams to track and resolve paperwork discrepancies, including manual documentation.
- Escalate unresolved payment or billing issues to appropriate parties for resolution.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of collections and billing activities using accounting software.
- Offer recommendations to improve processes and adapt to new software systems as needed.
- Build strong relationships with clients to encourage timely payment while addressing disputes diplomatically. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts receivable collections, ideally in a business-to-business environment.
- Familiarity with payment portals, for example Ariba, Coupa, Tungsten, etc.
- Strong understanding of billing processes and sales tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new platforms.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when managing manual processes.
- Ability to escalate and resolve complex payment or billing issues effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Knowledge of accounting systems is a plus.
