In this role, you will manually and electronically process and post insurance and patient payments and be responsible for the expedient and accurate posting of payments received. Collection process with outstanding patient balances to include follow up with patients. Helping patients understand their bill. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Responsible for posting payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts in a timely manner. Contact insurance companies and request payment breakdowns for checks/efts received without remittance. Balances batches and run transaction reports Records daily batch totals with date and name on payment reconciliation form to turn in to Billing Manager. Verifies all EFT deposits and paper checks have been posted by month end. Access remittances (EOB’s) from insurance companies and clearinghouses. Review aging accounts to collect amounts due or initiate escalation process for collections, according to established guidelines. Maintains and protects confidentiality in all aspects of patient health information, proprietary information, and employee information. Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the appropriate billing representative- AR and/or Billing Manager. Cross trained to provide department coverage as needed. Ideal Candidate would have experience and skills of the following: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years of medical billing and posting experience. Candidates must be able to work with high volume of work while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy. Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Excel and Word). Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to review and understand remittance advices and EOB’s including denial code information. Thorough understanding of billing software, payer websites, and clearinghouse processes.
