Position Summary:
The Payment Poster implements the laboratory and billing mission, goals and objectives by exemplifying the short- and long-term vision, values and goals of the laboratory and billing offices, by providing professional service in the performance of job functions.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Entering, posting and filing program payments to the RCM (revenue cycle management) Posting insurance payments and adjustments based on EOB forms, with appropriate comment, reasoning and denial codes, in the RCM system Verifying the transmission of electronic claims Entering cash receipts and posting and routing them to the bookkeeper Balances batches and runs transaction reports Preparing spreadsheets for the total daily payment process for reconciliation Appropriately document all correspondence with clients and third-party insurances Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the RCM system and to the appropriate billing representative in a timely manner Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the appropriate billing manager. Cross trained to provide department coverage to assist in collection phone calls Review EOB’s- issue appeals/submit corrected claims Properly post client payments Making outbound calls to patients and providers related to billing issues Checking accounts for address and program coverage changes Checking payments for rebilling
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in healthcare billing Skilled in insurance and patient claims follow up Experience with Electronic payment posting, manual payment posting, and online patient payment posting. Ability to multi task Detail Oriented- attention to detail and accuracy Working knowledge in Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and insurance regulations and policies for multiple states. Experience with insurance portals and claims research Skilled in medical terminology Understanding of EOB’s and Remittance codes
