Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for capturing and maintaining accurate billing and reimbursement procedures for insurance claims and patient balances. This position will work closely with Payers, Patients and the Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure all billing and collection processes are performed accurately and efficiently. This position will also aid in the organizational reporting and compliance of services performed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies. Ensuring the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date. Prepare bills and invoices, and documenting amounts due for medical procedures and services. Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations. Monitor and record late payments. Follow up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies. Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information. Denials Management – Investigating and appealing denied claims Produce monthly summary analysis of denied claims by Center Work Patient AR following Renal Care 360 Collection process Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Basic understanding of clerical and administrative procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to solve problems as they arise. Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records. Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software to include Excel.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or vocational school training preferred. Current AAPC certification or equivalent required. Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a medical biller or similar role.
