Jacksonville, FL Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Mid-level 3 years Team management Lending Leadership Communication skills Full Job Description Role The Assistant Collections Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial assets of our organization. This includes comprehensive management of delinquent and charged-off loans, and repossessed collateral. The role demands adherence to both internal policies and strict compliance with state and federal regulations. As a leader, the Assistant Manager oversees the collections team, providing direction, mentorship, and fostering a culture of high performance and regulatory compliance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Collections Oversight:

Review and monitor delinquent, charged-off, and repossessed loan accounts to ensure timely and appropriate recovery actions are taken. Make decisions on escalated cases and guide staff on complex collection situations. Recommend legal actions, repossession, and charge-off activity in compliance with policy and regulations. Collaborate with external vendors, attorneys, and repossession agents on asset recovery.

Leadership and Supervision:

Supervise daily activities of collection staff and assist the Collections Manager in the coordination of departmental operations. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and ongoing training to promote professional development and accountability. Act as department lead in the absence of the Collections Manager. Foster a positive team environment that promotes service excellence, collaboration, and regulatory compliance.

Reporting and Analysis:

Analyze performance data, delinquency reports, and recovery trends to identify opportunities for operational improvement. Assist in preparing and presenting key performance indicator (KPI) reports to senior management. Evaluate collector scorecards and metrics to ensure goals are met and develop action plans for underperformance.

Compliance and Risk Mitigation:

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including FDCPA, FCRA, CFPB, BSA/AML, and the U.S. Patriot Act. Support the timely completion of required trainings and certifications by staff (e.g., BAI Learning). Monitor and update department procedures to align with industry regulations and internal policy changes.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

Partner with other departments (e.g., Lending, Risk, Branch Operations, Legal) to resolve account discrepancies and member concerns. Participate in strategy meetings and serve as a subject matter expert for collections and asset recovery. ~Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Knowledge and Skills Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Education/Certifications/Licenses A college degree. Interpersonal Skills A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Other Skills Strong understanding of skip tracing techniques and third-party data tools. Proficient in utilizing predictive dialer systems, CRM platforms, and collections software (e.g., CUBS, FIS, Temenos, or similar). Knowledge of fair lending laws and consumer protection standards as they relate to collections. Strong knowledge of collections processes, credit regulations, and industry best practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to meet performance goals and manage a team effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle difficult customer situations. ADA Requirements Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 4-6 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Working Conditions Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise. Mental and/or Emotional Requirements Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various complicated written and oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
