Job Description:
This role is responsible for overseeing credit and collections operations, managing risk, and ensuring timely collection of receivables. The Credit & Collections Manager will work cross-functionally with sales, finance, and operations teams while leading a small, established collections team.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate credit risk and set credit limits for new and existing customers Lead collections strategy, ensuring timely payments and minimizing delinquency Maintain accurate records of customer communications, payment histories, and account status Contact clients to resolve past-due balances professionally and proactively Manage the invoice generation, distribution, and issue resolution process Oversee two assistant managers and delegate tasks while monitoring team performance Review and analyze billing and collections data to spot trends and identify opportunities for improvement Coordinate with sales, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth billing processes Ensure compliance with construction lien laws and bond claims when applicable Participate in internal and external audits and assist with reporting as needed Drive process enhancements and implement best practices for improved collections and credit workflows
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in credit and collections management, ideally within construction, ready-mix concrete, or building materials industries Proven leadership skills and team management experience Deep understanding of credit evaluation techniques and risk mitigation strategies Familiarity with construction lien laws, bond claims, and industry-specific billing practices Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP platforms (Microsoft D365, Salesforce preferred) Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Valid driver’s license required (must travel to both locations weekly)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field Experience reviewing contracts and payment terms in a construction environment Knowledge of local/regional markets in construction materials
