Description of Work Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a difference? DEQ has an open opportunity for a Data Control Clerk. DMF 60032729 NC08 This Data Control Clerk position is responsible for the computer processing of commercial fishery statistics and other fisheries data. This position will be working with data submitted to the Division of Marine Fisheries through electronic submissions or submitted through the completion of coded forms from seafood dealers. Job duties will include reviewing and maintenance of electronically submitted data as well as reviewing coded data forms, key entry, and filing. The data clerk is required to work closely with the public and will be responsible for helping to train new seafood dealers on how to fill out trip tickets and the rules for the program. This position will also be responsible for completing supply requests and for answering questions about the Trip Ticket Program. This position will also work in close coordination with the other data clerks, port agents, and biologists to review data and make edits as necessary to ensure data accuracy. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are important for this position. This position will also complete other related duties as assigned. Occasional heavy lifting is required for maintaining files in the office and warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing trip ticket data (electronic and paper files).
Processing mail.
Training seafood dealers on how to comply with the Trip Ticket Program.
Responding to seafood dealer inquiries.
Processing trip ticket data edits.
Filing trip ticket data and seafood dealer correspondences. The Division of Marine Fisheries The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the state’s marine and estuarine resources. The DMF’s jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore.
