Job Description

Data Collector – Temp – Wagoner 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Winston-Salem, NC 27157 The temporary position will support an NIH-funded project conducting research to understand the impact of marketing on consumer purchase behavior. The data collector will contribute to the project’s randomized trial at the UNC Mini Mart, based in Raleigh, NC. The UNC Mini Mart is a physical convenience store laboratory that provides a controlled environment in which researchers can study and experimentally evaluate the impact of point-of-sale policies and interventions on consumer behavior. Key functions of this role include recruiting study participants, screening and scheduling study participants, consenting eligible participants, implementing the study protocol (including in-person data collection), disbursing study incentives to participants, assisting with data entry, and other administrative tasks. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in conducting research and working with an interdisciplinary research team that values high-quality research that has a public health impact in a fun and collaborative working environment. This is an in-person position that requires working in the Raleigh area and will last until the trial is complete in September, 2025. The position requires reliable transportation.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Completion of an associate degree or bachelor’s degree is required.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

The candidate must possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, and must be comfortable working in teams and independently. The candidate must have exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable interacting with study participants. Proficiency using computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Principal Functions:

Administration (10%) Provides assistance to day-to-day activities for the research studies. Provides support for other administrative tasks for the project as needed. Research & Data Management (80%) Implements data collection for in-person RCT and other research activities. Assists with recruitment and screening of study participants, consenting study participants, implementing study protocols, and tracking participant progress throughout the trial in adherence to the protocol. Communication (10%) Communicates independently with Project Manager and Principal Investigator to assess project needs and to build strong working relationships. Convenes on a regular basis with research team. Serve as key contact for research participants.
