Medical Insurance & Authorization Specialist

9 3.9 out of 5 stars Hollywood, FL 33024 We are looking for an Insurance Authorization Specialist for our Hollywood, Florida location! The Insurance Authorization Specialist is at the beginning of the revenue cycle for Retina Group of Florida by ensuring patients are able to be seen with their insurance and verifying they are active. The Insurance Authorization Specialist will report directly to the Insurance Manager.

Insurance Authorization Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Review and process insurance authorizations for procedures and treatments
  • Verify patient eligibility and coverage details with insurance providers
  • Communicate with providers to gather necessary documentation for authorization requests
  • Submit authorization requests to insurance companies and follow up on pending authorizations
  • Maintain accurate records of authorization status and update patient files accordingly
  • Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for authorized procedures
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance policies, procedures, and terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple authorizations simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and processing authorization requests
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with insurance companies and dental providers
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping
