Role:
We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist/Advocate with lived experience raising a child with a disability or complex medical needs. This role supports families by offering guidance, resources, and advocacy as they navigate public service systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to family and caregiver requests for support and referrals Assist families in identifying needs in education and human services Educate families about their rights and responsibilities Promote leadership and self-advocacy among parents Provide accurate, up-to-date information and resources Document all interactions in the Salesforce database Collaborate with professionals across education, early intervention, and human services Build and maintain partnerships with key agencies Participate in training and act as a positive brand ambassador
Qualifications:
Preferred Experience:
Lived experience as a parent of a child with a disability or complex medical needs Bilingual (preferred) Individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs are encouraged to apply
Knowledge & Skills:
Familiarity with special education and early intervention systems Understanding of Medicaid waiver services, Flexible Family Funding, and related resources Basic knowledge of Medicaid and Social Security systems is a plus Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, email, and calendars

Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent
