Referral Specialist Divine Wellness Center 575 SE Broad Street, Southern Pines, NC 28387 Job Summary The Referral Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by managing and coordinating patient referrals to ensure seamless access to necessary medical services. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology, coding, and insurance processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to facilitate timely referrals while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities Process and manage patient referrals efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete. Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for referred services. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate appointments and follow-up care for patients. Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for accurate billing and record keeping. Assist in resolving any issues related to referrals or insurance verification. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, answering inquiries related to their referrals and care options. Stay updated on managed care policies, procedures, and changes in the healthcare landscape. Skills knowledge of medical records management and coding practices, Familiarity with managed care systems and processes. Experience in a mental health office or medical office setting is preferred. Proficient in insurance verification processes and understanding of various insurance plans. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
