The Payee Specialist will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Representative Payee Program. Determine eligibility, schedule appointments, conduct follow-ups as needed, prepare and submit necessary reports and refer clients to all applicable agency programs are among the areas of responsibility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct initial office visit with all program consumers, to include intensive budget review, goal setting, and analysis of need for any services. Establish all necessary banking and community contact on behalf of program consumers, including, but not limited to, Social Security Administration, Public Assistance, and the Area Agency on Aging. Provide instruction on budgeting and banking procedures, as necessary, to consumers. In conjunction with the consumer, set up payment plans for any accounts that are in arrears. In cooperation with the consumer, establish a regular contact schedule (home, office, calls) to facilitate payment of bills and to determine effectiveness of agreed upon budget. Enter Client information into agency database and update indicators and client demographics as needed. Maintain phone contact as necessary, but at least monthly with consumers to keep up to date on any reportable changes. Maintain strict confidentiality; Get releases and work closely with the community contacts (case managers, agencies, PCH, nursing homes, landlords, utility companies, family members, etc.) to help maintain stability. Report all required changes to Social Security as soon as they occur. Document all conversations with Social security on behalf of clients and any instructions on how to handle situations. Return conserved funds to Social Security as soon as notified to return them unless other arrangements are made with Social Security. Keep complete, accurate records of all fiscal actives conducted on behalf of consumers. Maintain complete and accurate case files. Enter intake information, case notes, income, and indicators in the agency client database. Establish an annual budget with the consumer that the consumer will sign off on. Any changes to the budget will be discussed with the consumer. Assist clients in applying for property/rent rebates and LIHEAP. Help consumers to complete Federal/state and local taxes. Maintain needed documentation in consumers’ paper files and their e-files. Maintain Horizon entries with updates and changes to budgets. Complete disability reports with consumers. Comply fully with all contractual obligations. Prepare and distribute informational material and talks on the program as required. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

One year experience in counseling, adult education or mental health work. Must be able to work independently without close daily supervision. Excellent verbal, written, and math skills. Demonstrated organizational skills. Knowledge of county social service network and community resources. Must have a valid PA driver’s license, reliable transportation and be willing to travel in Indiana County and other counties if required. Must have basic computer skills as well as be able to work with various software programs including use of the internet. Must be willing to learn new software programs. Must have or be willing to obtain Motor Vehicle Report and Act 33 & 34 clearances. Must have vehicle insurance to comply with agency standards of coverage. Why should you choose WorkLink Staffing?
