Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist plays a key role in onboarding patients into our client’s home infusion services. This position is responsible for receiving and verifying referrals, conducting benefit investigations, securing authorizations, and coordinating with clinical and operational teams to ensure a smooth and compliant start of care. The Intake Specialist acts as a liaison between patients, providers, payors, and internal staff to support timely therapy initiation.

Job Responsibilities:

Receive and process new patient referrals accurately and in a timely manner.
Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance details, physician orders, and clinical documents.
Conduct insurance benefit verifications and obtain prior authorizations as required.
Communicate with referral sources (hospitals, clinics, case managers, physicians) to complete and clarify intake requirements.
Secure all necessary documentation and consents to meet billing and compliance standards.
Accurately enter patient information into pharmacy systems and maintain organized intake records.
Coordinate with pharmacists, nurses, reimbursement teams, and delivery staff to support seamless therapy initiation.
Provide high-level customer service to patients and referral partners.
Assist with administrative tasks related to patient intake, care coordination, and reimbursement.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
Licensed pharmacy technician or willingness to become licensed after hire.
1-2 years of experience in healthcare intake, prior authorizations, patient services, or a medical office setting.
Strong preference for experience in home infusion, specialty pharmacy, or DME.
Knowledge of insurance processes, benefit verification, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance.
Familiarity with infusion therapy or specialty medications is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and EHR systems.
Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
