Job Summary:

Spartanburg Methodist College seeks a highly motivated and results-driven individual to serve as a Regional Admissions Specialist for the Lowcountry and Midlands regions of South Carolina. This remote role plays a key part in executing strategic recruitment initiatives and providing ongoing support to prospective students and families throughout the enrollment process.
The Admissions Specialist is responsible for cultivating relationships within their assigned territory, engaging students through digital and in-person outreach, and serving as the primary point of contact from inquiry to enrollment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of SMC and be able to articulate the College’s values and programs professionally and enthusiastically.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan for the Lowcountry and Midlands regions, including targeted outreach to high schools, community partners, and prospective students.
Build and maintain strong relationships with guidance counselors, high school personnel, and community influencers.
Proactively manage the applicant pool through personalized communication by phone, text, email, and CRM tools.
Analyze territory-specific data to adjust recruitment strategies and report findings to the Enrollment Management team.
Represent SMC at high school visits, college fairs, and community events in the assigned territory.
Coordinate and support prospective students in scheduling virtual or on-campus tours, interviews, and meetings with faculty/staff.
Counsel students and families through the admissions process, financial aid steps, and enrollment milestones.
Track and ensure the timely and accurate submission of application materials using CRM and admissions systems.
Participate in virtual admissions events and assist with on-campus events as needed (periodic travel to campus may be required).
Contribute to the admissions decision-making process by evaluating student files from the assigned territory.
Respond promptly to inquiries and maintain timely follow-up communication.
Collaborate with other remote and campus-based team members to ensure a seamless recruitment experience.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently in a remote environment
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
Comfortable building relationships virtually and in person
Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce, Slate, or similar preferred)
Strong presentation and public speaking abilities
Willingness and ability to travel within the Lowcountry and Midlands regions regularly
Occasional evening and weekend work required to support recruitment activities

Working Conditions:

Remote/home-based position with frequent travel required in the assigned territory
Must reside in or near the Lowcountry or Midlands region of South Carolina
Must have access to reliable internet and transportation
Occasional travel to SMC’s main campus in Spartanburg for training or events may be required
Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 25 lbs of recruitment materials

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required
Prior admissions or student recruitment experience preferred
Knowledge of South Carolina high schools and community organizations is a plus
