This position involves reviewing patient information, verifying eligibility, and collaborating with healthcare providers to facilitate access to care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding, particularly ICD-10 and ICD-9, as well as experience in acute care settings. Responsibilities Review and analyze patient records to determine eligibility for services based on established criteria. Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients through various systems and databases. Collaborate with healthcare providers, including hospitals and pediatric departments, to gather necessary documentation. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information. Assist patients in understanding their eligibility status and available services. Maintain accurate records of eligibility determinations and communicate findings effectively to relevant parties. Stay updated on changes in healthcare policies, regulations, and coding practices that may impact eligibility requirements. Skills Proficiency in ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems is essential. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to various specialties, including acute care and pediatrics. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Familiarity with medical records management and documentation processes. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance in all interactions. Background or experience in social work is a plus but not mandatory.
