POSITION SUMMARY

This position is located at FDLE’s Orlando Regional Operations Center (OROC), providing administrative support to the Assistant Executive Director of the Southern Region. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and perform a wide range of independent administrative tasks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties include: Scheduling and coordinating all appointments and meetings, including travel plans, for the Assistant Executive Director, correlating these appointments with necessary key staff personnel and obtaining the required information needed for backup;
Researching and preparing reports and correspondence;
Receiving, reviewing, and taking any necessary action on incoming and outgoing communications, including email, phone calls and written correspondence to and from the Assistant Executive Director;
Ensuring the security of items of a confidential or sensitive nature;
Tracking projects and tasks assigned to Division members and Directors and ensuring completion within established timeframes;
Reviewing completed assignments to ensure that sufficient research/evaluation are reflected to justify recommendations made to the Assistant Executive Director;
Completing independent and directed special projects as assigned; Acting as liaison between criminal justice agencies, firearm dealers, and the public to communicate and resolve issues related to the firearm purchase background check process;
Attending meetings and/or conferences as required in order to keep the Executive Staff apprised of matters that may have a direct impact on agency function and prepares documentation or minutes of the meetings or conferences; and
Assisting in researching, documenting and providing final recommendations regarding concept rules, policies, procedures, or technologies which could improve or affect the efficiency of the program area, or the law enforcement community in general.

Knowledge of administrative principles and practices;
Knowledge of the methods of data collection, critical thinking, analysis;
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data; Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports;
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; Ability to work independently; and
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
