Your behind-the-scenes support at meetings, community events, and day-to-day operations directly shapes local policies and helps turn community needs into meaningful action. While you’ll report directly to the City Manager, your day-to-day will be shaped by the evolving needs of Council Members—requiring initiative, sound judgement, and a proactive mindset. From managing communications and coordinating logistics to supporting meetings and community engagement efforts, your work will help shape the policies and connections that move St. Cloud forward. Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with some evenings and weekends as needed to support Council meetings and events. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Provides administrative and clerical support to City Council members. Maintains and manages the calendars of all City Council members and provides daily reminders and scheduling assistance. Attends City Council meetings and accompanies Council Members to community events; builds relationships by gathering contact information, distributing business cards, taking notes, and following up on action items. Responds to and manages phone calls and email inquiries on behalf of the City Council, ensuring timely follow-up and professional communication. Drafts and sends correspondence, including thank-you letters, to residents and community partners on behalf of City Council members. Coordinates meetings and travel arrangements for City Council members according to travel policy and procedures. Participates in various department, City, and public projects and events. Responds to inquiries from the public in person, by telephone, and via email in a professional and responsive manner. Prepares payroll and other personnel-related forms; processes invoices and P-card transactions. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of administrative, clerical or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prior municipal government experience preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
