Executive Engagement Assistant and Welcome Center Coordinator Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce 805 W US Highway 64, Murphy, NC 28906

JOB SUMMARY:

The position requires an outgoing and self-motivated individual to assist in the daily operations at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center. The position requires good computer skills with particular knowledge of MS-Office, Google Documents, Google Calendar, QuickBooks Online, and social media platforms. Experience with ChamberMaster and knowledge of all necessary office equipment, procedures and software preferred but not required. Good communication skills are a must, along with the willingness to assist and direct visitors and members in a friendly and helpful way. Knowledge of the area to assist guests is a plus. The person will be expected to be present at the Chamber office on work days from 9-5 (operating hours), which may often be alone due to other obligations of the Director. Self-sufficiency, motivation, and independence are imperative.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet and assist visitors, answering questions and giving directions, helping visitors to find reasons to stay longer in Cherokee County. Answer calls and return phone messages, handling those related to tourism and referring business, economic development, and all others as appropriate. Answer Welcome Center emails, handling those related to tourism and referring others to chamber staff as appropriate. Categorize and save appropriate emails for statistical analysis in monthly reports. Perform basic accounting tasks on QuickBooks (as assigned by Director). Prepare and perform bank deposits when necessary. Maintain a daily phone call log. Maintain guest sign in book and aggregate data into daily/weekly/monthly/annual spreadsheets as well as state/country Google sheets report. Gather data and assist with Welcome Center statistics summary. Log member referrals in ChamberMaster Member Database Assist in maintaining and updating ChamberMaster, the Chamber’s member database. Maintain updates on the computer(s) assigned to the position. Assist with creating, copying, and folding Welcome Center publications and forms. Keep inside and outside brochure racks filled, current and in an attractive manner and assist in maintaining kiosks at the Casino and Stonebrook (requires weekly visit to HCVR property). Designing and creating online marketing content, including newsletters, brochures, and promotional emails. Capture and share photos and videos to help promote Chamber Members, Events, and our community Maintain inventory of all office supplies. Maintain inventory of all maps and brochures, reordering as needed. Maintain inside bulletin board and outside digital sign of current activities for visitors Assist Director with Membership billing and reminders. Assist in maintaining various CCCC Google calendars. Assist in recruiting new members. Become knowledgeable with current membership to assist members. Be available for Chamber Events as needed. Assist the Director in CCCC event planning activities. Complete daily/weekly cleaning duties. Other duties as assigned by the Director. Acknowledge and adhere to the CCCC Code of Ethics policies.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

The ideal candidate for this position will have a BS or BA degree and/or completion of Management or other Chamber credentials Experience in customer service and strong communications with visitors and members. The position requires good computer skills with particular knowledge of MS-Office, Google Documents, Google Calendar Adobe Illustrator, In-Design, and Photoshop, and social media platforms. Experience in graphic design and marketing preferred. Evidence of exemplary achievement in past jobs is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires that the employee be able to over uneven terrain, bend, stoop and have use of fine and gross motor skills. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand and to work at a computer. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls and to talk fluently. The employee must occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and be able to work at nights, weekends, and holidays as required by programming schedule. The position requires a valid drivers license and reliable transportation and a background check.

COMPENSATION

The position is a full-time position up to (40) hours weekly and requires occasional evening and Saturday work. Starting pay $17.00 per hour. Paid Time Off for full time employees.
