UNC Global Affairs includes the following service and programming areas: Global Education, Global Partnerships, Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, International Exchange and Sponsored Programs, UNC World View, Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center, Communications, and the UBC Business Office Position Summary The Executive Assistant provides high-level professional administrative support to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Chief Global Officer at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Executive Assistant serves as the direct link and first point-of-contact to the Vice Provost and is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including prioritization and coordination of the Vice Provost’s calendar, travel arrangements, expenses, event support, and communications. The Executive Assistant demonstrates excellent professionalism, diplomacy and discretion, and ensures that all matters are handled in a sensitive, organized, confidential and timely manner. This position requires close attention and responsiveness to the administrative needs of the Vice Provost and regular consultation regarding current and emerging priorities. Using excellent judgment, the Executive Assistant brings critical issues to the Vice Provost’s immediate attention and reroutes some issues to other areas for handling as needed. The Executive Assistant draws upon a comprehensive knowledge of University systems and operations to ensure accurate and efficient support to the Vice Provost, as well as smooth and appropriate interfaces with other offices and individuals at the University. The fast-paced and high-profile nature of this office requires the Executive Assistant to maintain composure under pressure and possess an exceptional ability to multi-task. The Executive Assistant is organized, detail-oriented, and meets deadlines without fail. Requires public contact at the highest levels internal and external to the organization. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written). Prior experience as an executive assistant, office manager, or similar role. Fluency in MS Office Suite (Outlook mail and calendars, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint) Consistently approachable, friendly, and calm under pressure. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prior work experience supporting a senior level executive. Prior work experience in a university setting. Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to report to work in person during scheduled work hours. Some overtime for events coverage and to assist Vice Provost as needed when they are traveling on university business. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities Not Applicable.
