The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Duties Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies Post payments and reconcile accounts Handle claim denials, rejections, and appeals Verify insurance eligibility and benefits Communicate with patients regarding balances and billing inquiries Stay current on billing and coding updates, especially for ophthalmology and retina procedures (e.g. intravitreal injections, imaging, surgeries) Collaborate with front desk, technicians, and physicians to ensure complete documentation and accurate coding Requirements 1+ years medical billing experience (retina or ophthalmology preferred) Strong understanding of
CPT/ICD-10
coding, Medicare, and commercial insurance guidelines Familiarity with EMR and billing software (e.g. ModMed, Nextech, or similar) Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
