m. Responsible for the expedient and accurate posting of payments received. Ensure accurate and timely billing for medical services rendered, comply with the billing and coding systems and regulations following agency policies and procedures, performance standards, and other guidelines and regulatory bodies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Posting insurance payments and adjustments based on Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms, with appropriate comment, reasoning and denial codes in the payments to practice management system (live checks within 24 hours, Online Credit Card payments the next business day, EFT deposits within 72 hours. Record batch totals with the date and initials on RCM web folder. Balances batches and runs transaction reports. Verifies all EFT deposits and scanned checks have been posted by month’s end. Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the practice management system and to the appropriate billing representative in a timely manner. Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the billing team. Batches patient statements electronically on a weekly basis Accurately and timely enter patient charges for services provided. Ensure charges are consistent with payer contracts, guidelines, and regulations. Submit claims via our practice management software through our clearinghouse biweekly or as needed. Review and verify patient medical records to ensure accurate billing information. Identifies any rejected claims and makes appropriate corrections to ensure a clean claim. Handle patient inquiries related to billing and payment, as needed. Communicate with providers and insurance companies. Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve billing issues as needed. Inform the supervisor of any challenges and concerns related to the process that can delay the posting or affect the claims submission in a timely manner. Must follow HIPPA guidelines at all times. Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least one year of experience in medical billing and coding procedures. An associate degree and relevant field experience are preferred. Certification in medical billing or coding is also preferred. Candidates should have knowledge of HIPAA regulations and standards for patient confidentiality.
