Substance abuse Billing and Collection Specialist South Beach Detox 85 NW 168th Street, North Miami Beach, FL 33169 Job Summary Substance Abuse Billing and Collections Specialist for 36 bed facility. We are seeking an experienced and detail oriented biller and collections specialist with a background in substance abuse and behavioral health billing. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate claim submissions, timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and effective follow-ups on outstanding accounts. The ideal candidate understands the unique requirements of billing for substance abuse inpatient treatment, including knowledge of relevant coding, payer guidelines, and regulatory compliance. Experience Prepare, review and submit insurance claims for substance abuse treatment services for inpatient treatment Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility Ensure proper coding using ICD-10, CPT, codes specific to behavioral health, mental health, and substance abuse Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or denied claims. Maintain up-to-date collection reports Maintain appropriate and accurate reports relevant to the position Manage patient accounts and process payments Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and set up payment plans when necessary Monitor accounts receivables and generate aging reports Resolve billing discrepancies and appeal denied claims as appropriate Maintain compliance with

HIPAA, CFR 42

Part 2, payer specific rules and billing regulations Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate staff to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes Keep up to date with changes in insurance billing practices and substance abuse treatment regulations minimum 2 years experience in medical billing and collections must be in behavioral health and/or substance abuse strong knowledge of insurance billing procedures proficient in using electronic health records and billing software strong communication and negotiation skills This role requires a compassionate individual dedicated to helping others achieve success while maintaining professional standards of practice.
