The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining patient accounts. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical office while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government programs. Utilize medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and HCPCS to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures. Review patient records for completeness and accuracy prior to billing. Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims or payments. Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and appeals. Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist in medical collections as necessary, ensuring adherence to ethical practices. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a medical office setting. Familiarity with medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), and coding systems. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards is preferred.
