Our Physicians are board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. We are affiliated with the finest hospitals throughout Central Florida, and we are on call 24-hours a day to handle emergencies. Job Description Under general supervision, the Authorization Representative is responsible for verifying and obtaining authorizations as required by insurance companies dependent upon the plan coverage for all office patients. Contacts patients for updated insurance information when applicable and coordinates with front office staff members regarding necessary patient information. Special emphasis for patients who are not covered or under insured. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Works with team members to resolve challenges and receive training and support. Identifies billing and insurance coverage problems and communicates with Billing Manager. Handles patient’s incoming calls to collect any patient responsibility. Demonstrates the ability to deal with patients and insurance companies regarding sensitive financial matters and recaptures paid balances. Responds to insurance company requests for information in a prompt and professional manner. Performs financial reviews and calculations based upon information received from the insurance company or plan, assists with logistical and/or clerical problem resolution related to the patient’s medical record, authorization and billing issues. Prepares reports of daily activity as requested by management. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bilingual – Spanish High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of one year experience working in a group practice or hospital Minimum of one year patient third part eligibility verification experience on an automated patient accounts system preferred including 1-2 years of experience in insurance authorizations Experience with

ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS

codes Understanding of clinical operations related to patient registration, referrals, authorizations and cash collections Comprehensive working knowledge of third party insurance processes Comprehensive knowledge of Windows programs through practice management systems Patient billing experience preferred Core Competencies Must type 45+ wpm with high accuracy rate Team player attitude and willingness to make active contributions to the team Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent customer service skills Advanced technical skills in MS Excel and medical office software Well organized and detail oriented Comprehensive medical coverage Benefits Medical, Dental and Vision Life insurance Short and Long term disability insurance 401(k) with profit sharing Paid time off and paid holidays
