The Biller is responsible for accurately preparing and submitting billing claims for ambulance services, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, and patients. The role involves verifying patient information, coding services correctly, and following up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize revenue and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Tenure Key Responsibilities:
Claims Processing:
Prepare and submit accurate electronic and paper claims for ambulance services to insurance carriers, government programs, and patients.
Verify patient information:
Ensure all patient demographic and insurance data are current and accurate before billing.
Coding Services:
Assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) to services rendered, adhering to payer guidelines.
Follow-up:
•Monitor unpaid or denied claims, initiate appeals, and work with payers to resolve discrepancies.
Payment Posting:
Record payments received from payers and patients, reconcile accounts, and handle adjustments or denials.
Record Keeping:
Maintain organized records of billing and payment documentation in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Customer Service:
Respond to inquiries from patients and insurance representatives regarding billing issues.
Compliance & Updates:
Stay informed about changes in billing regulations, insurance policies, and industry best practices.
Reporting:
Generate billing reports, aging reports, and other financial summaries as required by management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing/coding preferred. Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in ambulance or transportation services. Knowledge of healthcare billing software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Familiarity with insurance policies, coding standards, and billing regulations (Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial). Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy. Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Attention to detail in documentation and data entry.
