POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physician Office Medical Coder/Biller (POMB) conducts a documentation review of electronic records that are prepared by clinicians to ensure that the correct codes are pulled through the Encoder within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The POMB will review all documents and pertinent information to capture appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers to complete coding portion of the process. The POMB will prepare the encounters so that the changes can be posted to the TWPM billing product. The POMB will support the physician and mid-level providers to capture HCC codes within the clinical visit. The POMB will track the HCC codes that still need to be addressed. The POMB will strive to complete all coding for the day’s encounters by the close of the business day. He/She will also perform other job duties as assigned by POMB Supervisor and/or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, skills and experience: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required, some college a plus. CPC or RHIT required. Exceptional Customer Service Skills required at all times. Knowledge of

ICD-10 & CPT

coding required. Experience in an office/clinical setting preferred. Strong computer skills required including MS office and MS Outlook. Must be a team player. Must be able to work in an environment that is time sensitive and manage multiple priorities with interruptions. Accuracy and clarity in written and oral communication. Experience with Electronic Health Record preferred. Understanding Risk Adjustment coding and supportive documentation preferred. Ability to interact and teach coding content to physicians required. Must pass a Physician Office Medical Biller, POMB, test prior to employment. Must keep current with coding changes related to the office.
