We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller/Coder to join our administrative team. This role is essential to maintaining the financial health of our organization while ensuring the delivery of efficient, compliant, and ethical healthcare billing practices. Job Summary The Medical Biller/Coder is responsible for managing the billing process for medical and behavioral health services, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance payers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers Review patient records and clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding systems Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, conducting medical collections and working with payers to resolve billing issues Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to clarify any discrepancies in patient information or billing details Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, North Carolina Medicaid billing, and Tailored Care Management (TCM) requirements Generate and analyze reports on billing activities, outstanding claims, and payment status Ensure compliance with payer requirements, HIPAA, and state and federal billing regulations Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certificate in medical billing/coding preferred Certification through AAPC or AHIMA strongly preferred (e.g., CPC, CPC-A, CCA, or CCS) Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in behavioral health or home/community-based services Proficiency with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software Knowledge of North Carolina Medicaid/Medicare billing and Tailored Care Management (TCM) billing processes Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Flexible scheduling options (Hybrid/On-site) Professional development and training opportunities Supportive and collaborative team environment Join Our Team If you’re an experienced medical biller with a passion for accuracy, compliance, and improving patient care through sound financial practices, we’d love to hear from you.
