Our offerings include Infectious Disease Specialty Care, Primary Medical Care, Women’s health, Hormone Therapy, Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Treatment, Case Management, LGBTQ+ Services, PrEP Services, Food Pantry Services, Clinical Research and Trials, a Drop-In Center for residents without addresses, Community Outreach, and a Syringe Exchange Program, among other services

Job Duties of Medical Biller:

Assist all patients to apply for insurance when applicable Make certain all billing is complete and submitted. Review all Billing and payments for accuracy Investigate rejected claim to see why denial was issued Become liaison between NJCRI and billing vendor Assist Clients with any issues or problems they are having with Billing Work outstanding A/R on a timely manner Reconcile monthly LabCorp bill Assist with all physician Credentialing and attestations along with renewals Recognizing when medical records lack sufficient detail to support the assigned codes and communicating with providers to clarify information. Update fee schedules as necessary including keeping up-to-date with coding guidelines, payer policies, and changes in coding systems Participating in audits to assess the accuracy of coding practices and identify areas for improvement. Ensure codes are accurate, sequenced correctly, and comply with government regulations, insurance rules, and coding conventions. Translating medical information into standardized codes (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) for billing and statistical reporting Collect all co-pays and self-pay balances Handle information about patient treatment, diagnosis, and related procedures to ensure proper coding. Continuously learning about new coding guidelines and regulations through professional development

Requirements:
Education:

Minimum of a high school diploma required; college degree preferred. Proficient in medical billing software and healthcare information systems; strong general computer skills. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. Working knowledge of primary medical code classifications, including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. Required knowledge of Behavioral Health Billing processes and payer guidelines. Familiar with basic accounting and bookkeeping principles, including reconciliation and payment posting. Medical Coding Certification a plus.
