Medical Biller 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Riverhead, NY 11901 A private multi-location Speech Therapy Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Biller to join our team. We are looking for someone with prior experience in a private clinic who is knowledgeable about all federal and state guidelines. The ideal candidate should be proficient in HIPAA compliance and familiar with CMS Medicare guidelines.

General Job Duties & Expectations:

• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
• Obtain Prior Authorizations
• Submit Appeals and/or schedule peer to peer reviews
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement
• Investigate and resolve billing/claim discrepancies or issues
• Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries or disputes
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies
• Prepare and submit electronic or paper claims to insurance companies
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic billing systems

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role. Preference is given to billers with experience within private practice speech therapy
• Minimum 1 year of experience working in insurance denials within a medical practice
• Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical billing procedures
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines and reimbursement processes
• Familiarity with medical records management systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
