The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding of medical records, and facilitating timely collections. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is for contract, mostly remote work with some requirements to come to the physical office to retrieve paperwork and handle any issues. Responsibilities Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government agencies. Review patient records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all necessary documentation is included. Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies. Communicate with patients regarding their bills, payment plans, and insurance coverage. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, billing regulations, and coding standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to billing or coding. Assist in the preparation of reports related to billing activities and collections. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing or a related role within a medical office setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG classifications. Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance verification procedures. Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare staff. Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
