The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding and billing for psychotherapy services, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, and supporting the financial operations of the practice. This full-time role also includes cross-training to support other administrative functions, with occasional coverage for front desk and scheduling duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Coding & Billing:
Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and any other applicable codes for psychotherapy services provided. Submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies. Review and resolve claim denials or rejections in a timely manner. Verify insurance benefits and authorizations as needed. Process patient billing statements and manage accounts receivable. Communicate with insurance providers to clarify coverage and resolve billing issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicaid/Medicare and private payers.
Administrative Cross-Training:
Provide backup coverage for front desk tasks, including greeting clients, answering phones, and managing client check-ins/check-outs. Assist with appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling as needed. Support data entry, electronic medical record (EMR) maintenance, and client file management. Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless client experiences.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a mental health setting. Strong understanding of
CPT/ICD-10
coding, HIPAA, and insurance billing procedures. Proficiency with billing software and EMR systems. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred:
Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS), or equivalent. Experience with behavioral health billing and coding. Familiarity with telehealth billing and coordination.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to be cross-trained and provide administrative support as needed. Flexibility to adapt to changing workflows in a team-oriented environment.
