The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the collection of outstanding medical accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, billing practices, and effective communication skills to interact with patients and insurance companies. Responsibilities Review and analyze patient accounts to identify outstanding balances and initiate collection efforts. Communicate with patients regarding their accounts, providing clear explanations of charges and payment options. Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and obtain necessary authorizations. Maintain accurate records of all collection activities in the medical office systems. Utilize knowledge of DRG, ICD-9, and medical coding to ensure accurate billing practices. Follow up on unpaid claims and ensure timely resolution of issues related to medical collections. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and best practices to optimize collection processes. Qualifications Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical billing processes. Experience working in a medical office environment is preferred. Familiarity with medical records systems and coding practices, including DRG and ICD-9. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple accounts effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective patient interaction. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in medical collections is a plus but not mandatory.
