The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing insurance claims and ensuring compliance with medical coding standards. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, insurance verification processes, and appeals. As an Insurance Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. Duties Perform insurance verification for patient accounts to ensure coverage eligibility. Utilize ICD-10 and coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures. Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and address patient inquiries. Process claims submissions to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims and denials. Review managed care contracts to ensure compliance with payer requirements. Assist in the training of new staff on coding practices and insurance processes. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, regulations, and coding standards. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting, preferably as an Insurance Specialist or similar role. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10). Experience with insurance verification processes and managed care contracts. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurers. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
