Job Description
Job purpose The main role of the butler is that of a personal assistant; with the ability to anticipate the owner’s and guest’s needs. They are committed to the highest standards of service, anticipates as well as expedites, organizes, implements and delegates effectively to ensure smooth and efficient running of all aspects of the estate and properties. Essential Functions The job duties and responsibilities of the position of Executive Household Staff – Butler, include, but are not limited to: Serve both formal and informal table Bartend as needed Inventory and storage of wine Inventory of and storage of all fine china and crystal Receive, unpack and store all artwork and other deliveries Clean and prepare all silverware, placemats and table settings Maintain a log of all appliance needs and repairs and notify estate manager of any deficiencies Ensure newspapers are presented and archived as per family wishes Take of recycling and garbage removal to trash room Polish all silver, copper and brass Wind clocks Help with big cleaning projects such as cleaning AC vents Check batteries/ remotes and flashlights Setup, take down, storage and care of all holiday decorations inside the estate and properties Organize all storage and basement areas including the wrap room Work with chef for planning to ensure smooth food service Assist chef with shopping and storage of food and sundries Setup and assist with all parties and events (coordinate with owners) Greet all guests and announce all guests Overnight guests shall be shown the proper operation of the facilities (showers, HVAC, etc.) Check and securely lock all doors at the end of the day As needed : Accompany any repair personnel performing repair work or service work in the house until they have completed work Walk dogs; groom and brush as needed Clean and polish shoes Upkeep of fireplaces in conjunction with the Estate Manager Assure entry mats and entry ways are neat and clean Other duties as assigned by owners or their designated representatives Competencies and Qualifications Maintain a professional manner at all times; must be committed to the highest standards of service Prompt, courteous, organized, well-groomed, honest, trustworthy Prior Housekeeping experience General knowledge of home repair and upkeep Ability to handle effectively any situation arising ensuring a smooth operation of estate household Reliability and flexibility Possess excellent English skills, professional demeanor and appearance.
