OVERVIEW
The NR Home Repair Technician reports to the NR Director. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, highly proficient construction craftsman to work in our Neighborhood Revitalization home repair program. The successful candidate’s belief system will align with the mission and core values of Indian River Habitat for Humanity. In addition, the candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing role. Excellent organization, computer skills, communication, and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and flexibility are required. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about the mission of Indian River Habitat, embodies a servant’s heart, and a desire to share in the blessing of giving back to low-to-moderate income working families in need of affordable home repair here in Indian River County.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a thorough understanding of the goals, mission, and philosophy of Indian River Habitat for Humanity (IRHFH) Relate effectively and efficiently address the needs of Habitat donors, volunteers, homeowners and staff and respond to them in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner In accordance with IRHFH plans, specifications and quality requirements provide overall leadership to volunteers, as needed Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with homeowners and vendors Work effectively as a team member, including but not limited to, coordinating home assessments and scheduling upcoming projects Ability to identify and complete home repairs to meet monthly, quarterly and annual NR goals Perform detailed home inspections for potential critical home repair clients Create work scopes and budget estimates that best meet homeowner needs and funding availability Solicit and review subcontractor proposals and contracts Identify and on-board additional subcontractors as needed Oversee subcontractor work on projects ensuring contracts have been met Ensure monetary and material stewardship Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks Assist in recruitment of skilled volunteers to help on home preservation projects Engage with and ensure safety of volunteers on preservation projects Material acquisition; Maintain repair tools and inventory Perform necessary warranty work related to repairs completed by Indian River Habitat for Humanity Attend weekly department and project meetings Suggest potential cost saving practices and material cost saving opportunities to supervisor. Undertake any other duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum of five years in a similar type construction /home repair role Supervisory and team-building experience Considerable experience of house construction and remodeling projects A servant’s heart and a desire to serve low-to-moderate income working families in Indian River County Follow established procedures and systems in all areas of responsibilities and tasks unless otherwise instructed by the NR Director Must be willing to work flexible work hours, when needed Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task Must be both a leader and a team player Effective communicator, written and verbal Computer literate with Microsoft One Drive, Outlook, and Excel Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal skills
