The Department of Transportation is actively looking to hire a Driver License Examiner Assistant in Lancaster County. This vital position functions as a PennDOT Driver License Examiner, contributing significantly to the enhancement of highway safety. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Driver’s License Examiner Assistant operates within a Driver License Center, where they facilitate driver licensing and related services for the public. This role entails professionally welcoming customers, verifying applicant identification, assisting with the completion of application forms, and inputting data into online driver license application systems. The assistant also provides relevant forms and informational brochures tailored to the specific needs of customers. Additionally, they administer standardized knowledge tests to assess applicants’ comprehension of motor vehicle regulations, driving laws, and traffic control devices, while conducting vision screenings using a telebinocular instrument to evaluate visual acuity for all applicants. In this position, the assistant is responsible for entering test results and customer applications into online software systems via a PC terminal. They independently address inquiries and concerns from the public, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the services offered and the requirements for each, including the criteria for obtaining REAL ID and non-REAL ID products. The assistant provides guidance on various services, such as driver’s license or identification card renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, motorcycle licenses, and commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs), ensuring familiarity with the associated restrictions and endorsements. Upon request, they generate Restoration Requirements Letters for customers who visit in person. Moreover, the assistant ensures the correct application of fee waiver codes and maintains proper documentation whenever a fee waiver is necessary for processing customer transactions, adhering to all Fee Waiver Guidelines. They strictly follow the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy and ensure compliance with all REAL ID regulations. Additionally, they issue and scan the Non-Native Born US Citizen/Non-US Citizen Courtesy Form, providing essential information as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday – Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
