SCHEDULER CLERK OF COURT GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
The purpose of the class is to provide administrative and clerical support to compile, maintain and notify all parties of the jury trial roster, and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Compiles and maintains jury trial roster and court dockets, updating as necessary; provides copies for judges, legal staff and other County personnel as required. Schedules and assigns courtrooms for court cases. Prepares and distributes notices to attorneys when cases are six months old and again at 12 months. Keeps all parties informed by telephone as to the date and time of trial. Monitors all cases subject to pre-trial status; coordinates related procedures with Chief Administrative Judge and attorneys. Maintains attorney protection book; transmits protection confirmation to attorneys. Coordinates with courtroom personnel, Clerk of Court staff and litigants to ensure the timely conduct of trials; maintains scheduling book for court sessions, hearings, conferences, etc. Obtains case files from Clerk’s office and provides to judges. Attends roster meetings. Provides back-up for courtroom clerks as needed. Consults regularly with the Chief Deputy Clerk or other officials to review assigned operations and activities, review and resolve problems, and provide or receive recommendations. Receives and responds to inquiries, requests, concerns and complaints in areas of responsibility. Compiles data for and prepares various records and reports as required by the department, County and/or other agencies. Drafts, types, revises, processes, copies, files, transmits and/or distributes a variety of forms, records, reports, lists, notices, legal documents and correspondence. Performs general administrative / clerical duties as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving computer data, sending and receiving faxes, processing mail, preparing spreadsheets, answering the telephone, etc. Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops as required to enhance job knowledge and skills; maintains a current, comprehensive knowledge of laws, regulations, trends and technologies affecting assigned operations. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS
Requires handling or using machines, tools or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, fax machines, copiers, telephones or similar equipment; may service office machines, including adding paper and changing toner. Must be capable of accurately using computers and software programs designed for court system.
COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS REASONING REQUIREMENTS
Requires performing semi-skilled work involving set procedures and rules but with frequent problems. Must deal effectively with unpleasant clients and situations on a daily basis.
MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires using addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and/or calculating ratios, rates and percentages.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Requires reading technical instructions, procedures, manuals and charts to solve practical problems; composing routine reports and specialized reports, forms and business letters with proper format; speaking compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires doing clerical, manual or technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures and requiring intensive understanding of a restricted field or complete familiarity with the functions of a unit or small division of an operating agency; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION
Requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in paralegal studies, accounting, business or a closely related field or any combination of acceptable education and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must possess Notary Public certification.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires two years and up to and including four years.

Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
