JOB SUMMARY
This position provides clerical and customer service support for the day-to-day operations of the Municipal Court.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Collects, sorts, and distributes incoming mail.
- Processes and posts online and mail payments.
- Receives payments and assists customers.
- Enters tickets into court system and files by court date in office folders.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
- Faxes notices of withdrawal of suspension letters to DMV locations.
- Provides support for the work of the Victims Advocate.
- Mails rescheduled court date correspondence.
- Balances receipts; balances cash drawer; prepares deposits.
- Maintains ticket inventory.
- Files certificates of transmittal.
- Processes expungements.
- Maintains juror list.
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of Municipal Court policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Knowledge of applicable recordkeeping requirements.
- Knowledge of legal forms, documents, and terminology.
- Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in establishing priorities and organizing work.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
