Miscellaneous Temp – CLERICAL

SPECIALIST

(Criminal Court Clerk) 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 201 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103 All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment. The residency requirement shall not apply to certain public safety/civil service employees. This means exemption from this policy is in effect for the following departments and positions: (1) Sheriff Deputy Patrol Officers, Deputy Jailers and Dispatchers, employed by the Sheriff Department, (2) Correction Officers employed by the Division of Corrections, (3) Firefighters, Paramedics and Dispatchers employed by the Shelby County Fire Department. The residency exemption for public safety/civil service employees does not include Appointed positions with Sheriff’s Office, Division of Corrections or the Fire Department. Position Summary Works under general supervision to perform a variety of entry-level clerical/administrative duties that may require the use of limited independent judgement and skill in processing, communicating, creating, and/or maintaining various records, files, and information regarding specific departmental functions.

Pay Grade:

41H Minimum Qualifications 1. Two (2) years of experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work; AND 2. High school diploma or possess a GED; OR 3. One (1) year of appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work experience and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters). 4.

PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Prepares correspondence, forms, manuals, schedules, and reports. 2. Compiles pertinent data as needed when preparing various reports. 3. Initiates and maintains physical and computerized departmental files for all employees and applicants including verification of completeness of files. 4. Processes requests for official records, including maintaining log of requests for records. 5. Maintains confidentiality of information. 6. Makes decisions regarding work and various types of records requiring the use of independent judgment. 7. Relieves or assists other clerical employees in assigned work areas. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. KSAs 1. Ability to prepare reports, proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word software applications. 2. Ability to plan, organize and maintain an even flow of work. 3. Ability to spell, punctuate and use grammar correctly 4. Ability to compose general correspondence, write, and type documents for a variety of needs. 5. Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making. 6. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with others. 7. Ability to perform accurate mathematical computations. 8. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, verbally and in writing.
