Job Description

Communications Director / Administrative Assistant First Baptist Church, Foley 221 N Alston St, Foley, AL 36535 First Baptist Church of Foley is prayerfully searching for a full-time Communications Director who has a heart for ministry and can help our church be more effective in Gathering, Growing, and Going for the gospel of Jesus Christ. This role includes serving as the primary receptionist and administrative assistant for the office. This position offers health and dental coverage, with the church paying 100% of the premium for employees and 50% for dependents.

Communications Director Function:

The Communications Director supports the mission of the church by creating and managing church communications, providing general administrative support, and assisting the pastoral staff. This role oversees digital and print media, manages internal and external communication platforms, and ensures the office functions smoothly. The Communications Director is responsible to the Senior Pastor. Primary Responsibilities Office & Staff Support Act as the primary point of contact for visitors and callers on behalf of the Senior Pastor and ministry team. Receive and route all calls or messages appropriately. Update the hospital list daily. Call, mail, or email reminder notices to church officers regarding special meetings. Schedule appointments and provide daily schedules for appropriate staff. Assist the Financial Administrator as needed. Pick up mail from the Post Office Box. Pick up night deposit as needed. Pick up Sunday School records and maintain Sunday School roster. Perform general secretarial work and maintain office supply needs. Be proficient in and operate all office equipment. Update and maintain the church calendar. Coordinate Wednesday night dinner registration; communicate weekly list and cash box details to Kitchen Manager. Prepare and distribute the monthly Business Meeting Agenda. Create and manage church-wide volunteer and ministry group lists (e.g., Deacon Rotation, Greeter Team, Committees, Ministry Teams, Sunday School Teachers, Security Team, Prayer Partners, etc.). Schedule and utilize office volunteers. Perform other duties as assigned by ministerial staff. Communications & Media Edit and maintain the church website and social media platforms with current information, events, graphics, and content. Edit, and upload weekly sermon audio and video for podcast and online distribution. Design graphics and visual content for sermon series, social media, publications, and promotions using tools such as Canva or Adobe Suite. Create and send weekly email newsletter (FBC Connect) with event updates, announcements, and prayer needs. Prepare and distribute the weekly Worship Guide and Prayer Guide. Research and implement new tools and strategies for communication, promotion, and community engagement. Set up email accounts for new staff members as needed. Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), church management software, and relevant design/media tools. Membership Support Promptly send welcome letters and church information to all new or prospective members, including the latest newsletter and Discovery Class invitation. Coordinate new member packets, name tags, and meals for Discovery Class. Maintain and update church membership records, including new additions and departures. Update new member photos and announcements in the Christian Life Center as needed. Education Ministry Support Complete and track literature orders once approved. Inventory literature and distribute to classrooms. Prepare and distribute weekly Sunday School attendance envelopes. Enter and file weekly Sunday School attendance using Realm software.
