Building Department hiring part-time administrative assistant City of Arkadelphia 700 Clay St, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 Responsible for performing administrative work using independent judgement and action in accordance with city policies and practices.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES
Review applications and complete/issue applicable permit(s). Be knowledgeable of Building Department rules/regulations. Provide support for Building Department Manager, Inspector and Permit Coordinator. Complete and record correspondence, reports, forms, spreadsheets, etc.
GENERAL ACTIVITIES
Answer incoming calls, processes mail and email daily. Greet office visitors, answer questions and provide guidance. Schedule appointments, arrange meetings and update the department calendar. Maintain records and complete files. Operate photocopier, scanner and desktop computer. Scan and organize department files on city server. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Starred items indicate training will be provided, if needed. Verbal skills for communication with co-workers, general public, contractors, etc. Math skills with the ability to perform advanced equations such as building dimensions square footage calculations, etc.
- Writing skills with the ability to convey interpretations, requirements, explanations, etc. Reading skills for understanding city codes, ordinances, laws, rules and regulations as they apply to city of Arkadelphia Building code.
- Typing and data entry. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs. Knowledge of city building and zoning ordinances and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, general public and others. Other Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Possess a valid Arkansas Driver’s License. Pass pre-employment drug test screening and background check.
