The Gainesville Administrative Assistant performs front desk responsibilities for the Academic Advising Center, including answering questions and providing basic advising information to students in person, over the phone, and via email. The Assistant provides administrative support for the Executive Director and Assistant Directors, including scheduling meetings and taking meeting minutes. The Assistant has multi-campus responsibilities, including P-card orders, travel forms, and document and report maintenance. The Assistant hires, trains, and supervises a student worker. Other duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of P-card renewal.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes.
Front desk responsibilities ‘ looks up information in BANNER and DegreeWorks, answers student questions and provides basic advising information to students in person, over the phone, and via email, reschedules advisor appointments in their absence, and acts as a live agent on Ask Nigel; hires, trains, and supervises a student worker.
Handles P-card ordering, conference registrations, and professional association memberships for all campus Advising Centers; Reviews and submits travel forms for Dahlonega, Gainesville, Cumming, and Oconee campus advisors.
Provides clerical and administrative support to the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and Assistant Director of Dual Enrollment, including special projects, scheduling staff and other meetings, and taking meeting minutes.
Collects and uploads advising documents from the Gainesville, Oconee, Dahlonega, and Cumming Advising Centers into Banner Extender and maintains a weekly Academic Success Plan report.

Must demonstrate a strong background as a team player.
Must demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties.
Must demonstrate a strong background in working with diversity.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Four years of clerical or administrative experience required. Computer experience with Microsoft Office required; front desk experience required.
BANNER experience preferred; DegreeWorks experience preferred.
Minimum Starting Salary:
$15.87 per hour
